Play Possum is a technical exploration of closed-loop, zero-waste apparel assembly, designed to instil local slow-buying behaviour and overcome the geographical and industrial limitations of doing fashion production in Aotearoa.

This solution was kindled by Aotearoa’s enduring revitalisation of handicraft movements, such as 19th-century arts and crafts, mid-century home sewing and NZ punk culture.

The resulting apparel reconceptualises these craft identities and ideologies within circular service-as-product models, which provide space for the buyers' “number 8 wire” mentality.
